Robert Schenkkan adapted his Tony Award winning play as a feature film for HBO and Amblin. Steven Spielberg oversaw the production which was directed by Jay Roach and starred Bryan Cranston, Anthony Mackie, Melissa Leo, and Frank Langella. The film was broadcast on HBO on Saturday, May 21, 2016. It garnered multiple nominations with 8 prime time Emmy Awards including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Movie.
Synopsis
In 1964, the year that LBJ is looking toward an election, he has also dedicated himself to the passage of the Civil Rights legislation that has languished in Congress, stirring the hopes, passions and fears of a country headed toward monumental change.
