Set in 12th Century Korea, a 10-year-old orphan boy, Tree-ear, lives under a bridge with a crippled vagrant, Crane-man, scavenging for food wherever they can. Despite their perilous existence, the two have a close relationship. Tree-ear dreams of becoming a Master potter and manages to get hired as a temporary laborer by Min, the Village’s greatest, if most eccentric, potter. This apprenticeship will eventually send Min on a dangerous journey to the Capitol where he will be severely tested. A powerful coming of age story about Art, hope, and the different kinds of families we create.
