ALL THE WAY

AMERICA AT THE TURNING POINT: CONVERSATIONS ON ALL THE WAY is a special day-long symposium that offers the public an in-depth exploration of the political and artistic sides of All the Way, the new play about Lyndon Baines Johnson’s first year in office, which stars Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”) and is directed by Bill Rauch. During this symposium, four panels of experts including eminent historians, civil rights leaders, government officials, dramatists, and policy pundits will examine the complex life and legacy of President Johnson, the events and echoes of the Civil Rights movement, the issues inherent in the dramatist’s adaptation of life into art, and the indelible impact the events of 1964 had on American history. “All the Way is a one-of-a-kind event on Broadway — a bold play that allows us to remember our collective history as Americans. We are excited to complement the production with an event that aims to provoke and enlighten,” said Ari Edelson, the artistic director of The Exchange and The Orchard Project, which supported the early development of All the Way.  Participants in the AMERICA AT THE TURNING POINT will include writer and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, educator and civil rights activist Bob Moses, actor Bryan Cranston, playwright Robert Schenkkan, Lead Organizer of the Young Peoples Project Albert Sykes, and other members of the cast of All the Way. Further information on the panels and participants will be updated and available on the events website: http://www.exchangenyc.org/alltheway. The event begins at New World Stages (340 W 50th St) at 12PM and finishes with a final intimate event at the Neil Simon Theater (250 West 52nd Street) with the cast and creative team.  The event is open to the public with advance registration, but seating for the event is extremely limited. Tickets for AMERICA AT THE TURNING POINT are priced at $100 and include access to all four panel discussions, and a special offer for tickets to All the Way. ABOUT ALL THE WAY 1963. An assassin’s bullet catapults Lyndon B. Johnson into the presidency. A Shakespearean figure of towering ambition and appetite, this charismatic, conflicted Texan hurls himself into the Civil Rights Act, a tinderbox issue emblematic of a divided America. In the Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright’s vivid dramatization of LBJ’s first year in office, means versus ends plays out on the precipice of modern America.
