Early in “The Great Society,” the new play about Lyndon B. Johnson at the Alley Theatre through Feb. 18, a powerful old white man is talking to another powerful old white man when a woman interrupts their conversation. It’s an accident, of course. She’s there only to serve them cocktails. But she has the kind of skimpy outfit a 1920s cigarette girl would wear, one designed to convince any man in its vicinity that they’ve made it in life.
